Over the coming months, we will be sharing stories from these organizations and how they used the money from this offering.

The Total Offering in 2011 was $57,592 and was distributed to these organizations:

Local Indianapolis Needs $5,759

Being Taught that Love Costs Everything

Earlier this month, our High School students organized the showing of the film “Love Costs Everything”. E91’s Executive Pastor, Kevin Hart, reflects on the evening:

I sat in the Sanctuary on the evening of Sunday, March 11 in the state of many emotions and feelings. I would just like to share a few with you.

I can’t say enough about our high school ministry and especially the senior class. They have led well. They came to the Elders several months ago with a vision of making a difference in the world by making all of us aware of the everyday atrocities that Christians face. They were moved by the passion of the Holy Spirit and the Elders felt that passion and supported their initiative. Please be as bold as they have been by writing letters to our Senators and Congressmen to talk about the religious intolerance and persecution of followers of Christ around the world. When you see a high school ministry student or servant leader, please share how proud you are of him or her.

Next, I have been to India and seen the persecuted church. While in India, I met the man in the film who lost his wife and I cried through the whole story again. I have never experienced a loss like this man in pursuing the call of God. And his desire to bring other people groups (potentially violent) into a loving relationship with the Lord was inspiring. It really digs deep into the soul of my call to see if I have the love to pursue the ones who could cost me so much. I have seen the beaten faces of the pastors who minister in difficult circumstances everyday. I heard a man tell me he was going to quit, but through teaching and fellowship this man was strengthened by God and decided to return to his church and fight the good, but hard fight. I was glad I got to be part of that man’s restoration; it was the most humbling time in my life. Please let God humble you, so that He can use you in the life of another person.

Lastly, my daughter spoke at the end of the Love Costs Everything event. It was good to see how God how worked in her life and that she was leading with her heart and her convictions. She encouraged others, “to pray and rely on God for the change because that is how you get things done.” I do not know if I have had a prouder moment.
